ETHNOGRAPHIC MUSEUM OF LOIRO

Barbadás Museum: a reflection of 20th century Galician rural life. Kitchens, bedrooms, tools, school, shops, religious rites, 400+ photos social evolution....
This museum was born jointly from the institutional will of the Barbadás Town Council and the determination of the neighbours to preserve the memory of this town. It also tries to recall the daily life of the 20th century through the objects donated by the neighbours and which the Cultural Association "Loiro en la Memoria" was in charge of compiling, restoring and classifying, thus creating an environment in which the daily life and customs of the Galician countryside are reflected. The first part of the route reproduces life in the home. The different kitchens and the bedroom remind us of a way of life that is still very present in the collective memory. Some professions such as dressmakers, washerwomen and hunters are remembered here. Then the work in the fields takes centre stage, and among the farm implements, milkmaids, carpenters and shoemakers are also remembered. There is also a section dedicated to school, shops and religious rites that made up the time that was not dedicated to work or the home. All this is accompanied by an exhibition of more than 400 photographs showing the evolution in the way of dressing and social customs and which aims to become a tribute to the ancestors of the inhabitants of Loiro.
