CHURCH OF SAN MARTIÑO DE LOIRO

CHURCH OF SAN MARTIÑO DE LOIRO

Romanesque church
Built in the 12th century (1110) and later modified. Small rural Romanesque church with a single nave. It conserves the triumphal arch with a window over the Romanesque apse from the first stage. It has two lateral doors on the outside and on the main façade it has a door with archivolts and three baquetons surrounding the tympanum, which is formed by a window and two human figures surrounding a cross. Above it is a pearled cornice supported by small arches decorated with human, mythological, animal, vegetal and geometric figures. There is a cross on the roof of the nave and an Agnus Dei in the apse. Its western doorway shows clear influences from Ourense Cathedral.
