Day 1 MTB CENTER from Lobios to O Corgo

Day 1 MTB CENTER from Lobios to O Corgo

38 kilometers until we reach our final destination at the As Conchas Reservoir, in Muiños.

We started the day in the bikefriendly space of the Balneario Lobios Caldaria, specially designed for cycling lovers. A hotel that also offers bicycle parking, a workshop and washing area and even a recharging area for users traveling with electric bicycles.

Today 38 kilometers await us until we reach our final destination at the As Conchas Reservoir, in the Concello de Muíños. With the help of the general map of the MTB Center and the tracks downloaded on our GPS, we leave Riocaldo to head towards Bubaces by route number 9, where we start to gain altitude towards the Alto de Santa Eufemia.

As we advance along a forest track in perfect condition, we enjoy a great panoramic view of the SIerra de O Xurés and the neighboring mountains of Portugal; even from here we can guess the location of Portela do Home, border crossing with the neighboring country.

Once we have passed this promontory, we begin a long descent to connect with route 6 "Via Nova", which leads us back to Riocaldo, to continue then to the mills of Vilameá and continue the route to Lobios. It is time to regain strength as we have accumulated quite a few meters of elevation gain in the first part of the day and we still have a good stretch of climb to Ganceiros.

In its urban center there are several options to have a coffee and a snack before continuing our journey, the Natural Way Via Nova, which shares the route with the route 6 "Via Nova", leads us to the village of Reparade and, from there, we continue our stage until we reach the Chapel of A Clamadoira. From this chapel we enjoy a beautiful view of the As Conchas reservoir.

The moment we have been waiting for all day arrives: the final descent to the Rectoral de San Pedro; a narrow and technical trail that leads to the road and that allows us to easily cover the last kilometers until we reach O Corgo. In this village a transfer awaits us to take us to As Maus de Salas to spend the night.
