This route through the land of Lobios connects its capital with the thermal area of the Caldo River, following ancient cobbled paths and hardwood forests, linking up with the historic Via Nova. A small detour leads to the Mansio Viaria de Aquis Ogeresibus. With a great scenic attraction, the viewpoint of A Piteira stands out, from where you can see the Limia Valley, the Caldo River and the mountain ranges of Xurés, Santa Eufemia and Quinxo. The route, linear and of low difficulty, crosses places of natural, historical and ethnographic interest, such as the old Lobios, Vilameá with its bread cycle and the Romanesque cross, ending in the thermal area, perfect for resting and bathing. PLEASE NOTE: - Take enough water with you, especially in summer, and take advantage of the villages to refuel. - The route can be done in both directions or round trip. - Lobios offers taxis, accommodation and places to eat, also available in Rio Caldo. ELEMENTS OF INTEREST: Lobios is a treasure trove of popular architecture and ethnography. The old Lobios preserves elements such as the threshing floor, the irrigation channel, a mill, granaries and a stone bridge over the river Lobios. The Pazo de Lobios and the chapels of San Bartolomé and San Roque also stand out. The A Piteira viewpoint offers unique views, while the Quintas and Vilameá crossroads, one of the oldest, connect with the past. In Vilameá, the ethnographic complex includes wine cellars, a communal oven and hórreos (raised granaries). The historic Roman Vía Nova and the medieval bridge over the river Vilameá lead to the route of the mills and the natural pools. The route ends at the Rio Caldo hot springs, ideal for relaxation. COMPLEMENTARY ACTIVITIES: The waterfall of A Corga da Fecha, with its pools, is ideal for a bath in the middle of nature. The Lobios spa is perfect for relaxing. Hiking lovers can explore routes such as the Great Cross-border Route Gerês-Xurés, the Mina das Sombras, the Via Nova to the Portela do Homem, or the Foxo do Lobo de Guende. There are also options for horse riding and mountain biking, with signposted routes and bike hire at the spa. The cultural heritage includes the Mansio Viaria Aquis Ogeresibus, the Roman Mutatio of As Mouruás, Roman milestones, the Portela do Homem, the church of San Miguel de Lobios and the mysterious Haunted House of A Escusalla. The Xurés Interpretation Centre and the Porta de Lobios complete the experience.
