LEBOREIRO AND CABREIRA MOUNTAIN RANGES

Ruta desafiante con vistas espectaculares, historia y fauna salvaje. Ideal en primavera u octubre, ofrece un viaje entre leyendas y tradiciones.

"Se vas ao Leboreiro non olvides levar a capa ao hombreiro" is a saying that reflects the harsh conditions of this route through the Sierra del Leboreiro and Cabreira, on the dry stripe between Galicia and Portugal. The route starts in the village of A Fraga, at an altitude of almost 1,000 metres, and climbs up to the Pía da Moura, a rock with a carved human figure. From there, it heads towards frame 31, at the top of Codesal (1,333 m), passing by Mota Grande and enjoying spectacular views. On the descent, near the Mina de los Escapados, stories of fugitives from fascist repression to Portugal are evoked. The route ends at the mills of Ponte Bedela, following the course of the river Fragoso. TO NOTE: - The best time to do this route is in spring, during the flowering season, or in October, avoiding the heat of summer. - In winter there may be snow from A Fraga. - Bring plenty of water, the natural springs may be dry. - The area is windy, so it is essential to wear suitable clothing according to the weather conditions.
