AQUIS QUERQUENNIS
Archaeological complex formed by a roman military camp
In Puerto Quintela, in the municipality of Bande, only 8 km. from the capital of the municipality, is located the Roman archaeological complex Aquis Querquennis.
The interventions carried out until today allow us to distinguish the military camp, one of the most important ones excavated in the Iberian Peninsula, as well as the Viaria mansion and the travelers' inn.
The Via Nova or Via XVIII, the main Roman road that linked Braga and Astorga, crosses the site. Today it has become a nature trail that can be walked or cycled.
