RUXIDOIRO ROUTE

RUXIDOIRO ROUTE

Un recorrido circular por bosques y ríos ofrece paisajes encantadores, arquitectura tradicional y un mirador con vistas espectaculares, ideal para senderistas.

It starts on the road from Sabucedo to San Vicente, at the junction with the track to the O Briñal viewpoint. This beautiful circular route runs through the woods surrounding the Ourille river, fed by the Vilariños stream and the Nigueiroá stream, on its way to the Arnoia. The name of the route comes from the "roar" of the raging riverbeds and the sound of the dry leaves underfoot, creating a unique experience. The route is quiet and of low difficulty, ideal for enjoying nature. It includes the village of San Vicente and enchanting landscapes, perfect for hiking enthusiasts. PLEASE NOTE: - Wear suitable clothing and footwear; the paths may be muddy after the rains. - Bring enough water, the springs can be dry in summer. ELEMENTS OF INTEREST: The O Briñal viewpoint, near the beginning of the Ruxidoiro Route, offers a spectacular view over the Ourille river valley and the lands of Celanova. From there, the endless forests stretch as far as the eye can see, combining nature and tranquillity. The viewpoint is equipped with a swing, picnic area and information panels that enrich the experience. The landscape along the route is notable for the groves of hundred-year-old chestnut trees, which alternate with immense woods and riverside forests, creating an environment of great ecological value. The route also allows you to discover the traditional architecture of the area: granaries, mills, fountains, old bridges and washing places, elements that reflect the life and history of these lands. COMPLEMENTARY ACTIVITIES: The Mámoa de Mota Grande, at an altitude of 1,250 metres, is an imposing burial mound located on the border between Galicia and Portugal, part of the megalithic complex of the Portela do Pau in the Sierra del Leboreiro. The hermitage of San Trocado stands out for its legend linked to a miracle of San Rosendo, being a place full of spirituality. The Castro de Ourille and its Roman road allow us to immerse ourselves in the pre-Roman and Roman history of the region, complemented by the Roman camp of A Cividá, which is evidence of the military presence at the time. Finally, the Church of San Pedro de Ourille, an architectural jewel, completes this fascinating journey through time.
