RUTA INCLUSIVA DE VEREA VELLA
On this route you will walk in the footsteps of history following the "Camiño dos Zapateiros", as it was the route taken by the shoemakers from Vilanova dos Infantes to Allariz to sell their shoes and, in turn, to buy the leather for their work. Just over 5 km (out of a total of 16 km) run through part of the territory of the municipality of A Bola, surrounded by an area of special ethnographic and natural interest. We are between the Arnoia valley and the peaks of the Sierra de Monte Calvo. The route is inclusive and incorporates QR codes with information in several languages and Braille writing in its signposting. TO TAKE INTO ACCOUNT: - Very close to the villages of A Bola, Alvarín or Podentes. - It can be done starting from the villages of Vilanova dos Infantes or Allariz. - The whole route runs along paths and tracks in very good condition with very little gradient. ELEMENTS OF INTEREST: One of the most outstanding points is the Penedo de A Bola, an imposing granite formation very close to the village of A Bola, which gives its name to the municipality and offers spectacular views of the area. Along the way, we can get close to the rural religious architecture, visiting the churches of Santa Leocaia de Soutomel and Santa María de Podentes, both located close to the route. The landscape surrounding the route is dominated by oak groves, chestnut groves and farmland. The traditional villages with stone houses and tile roofs are also one of the attractions of this route. At the end of the route, the panoramic views of the Arnoia valley and the Monte Calvo mountain range offer breathtaking views, making this route a unique experience. COMPLEMENTARY ACTIVITIES: Pilgrimage of San Cibrao: It is celebrated the last weekend of August at the top of Monte Calvo (the highest point of the municipality), where there are also megalithic remains. Recreational area of the river Ourille: It has a bathing area, swimming pool, sports courts and barbecues. Religious architecture in the municipality: There are numerous churches and crosses that are a must-see: San Munio da Veiga, San Mamede de Sorga, the Baroque church of Santa Baia da Bola and its altarpiece. The Magosto Municipal Festival of A Bola: The people actively participate, promoting the local culture through music, dance and typical gastronomy.
