Discover breathtaking landscapes, traditional architecture and community traditions on a journey that connects history and nature in a unique setting.

The route runs through the villages of Guxinde and Pereira, crossing the river Leboreiro, which acts as a natural border between Galicia and Portugal. It stands out for its great scenic and natural interest, allowing you to discover these two villages that preserve traditional architecture and evoke ancient traditions related to the cultivation of cereals for bread, from which the name of the route derives. It is a short route with two branches: one to the Guxinde mill and the other to the village of Pereira, where elements such as the communal oven and the restored washing place stand out. In addition, the old medieval stone roads, which connected the villages with the mills, are still preserved in many sections, adding historical value to the experience. The route ends at a viewpoint overlooking the river Leboreiro and the Casa do Frade, a restored mill between rapids and pools, although access to the mill is not advisable due to the danger. - Footwear suitable for wet areas is recommended, even in summer. - The villages of Guxinde and Pereira have water sources. - The route can be shortened by starting in Pereira. ELEMENTS OF INTEREST: In Guxinde and Pereira we find authentic ethnographic gems, such as fountains and washing places that served as communal spaces, threshing floors for threshing grain and carefully constructed granaries. The communal oven of Pereira is another example of shared tradition, where the neighbours baked bread as a community. The Leboreiro river, with its crystal-clear waters, meanders through the surroundings, offering beautiful spots. The Casa do Frade mill is a living example of traditional engineering, while the old pontoons and cobbled roads connect the past with the present, reminding us of the old communication routes and their cultural value. COMPLEMENTARY ACTIVITIES: Entrimo offers a variety of activities to enjoy nature and cultural heritage. The visit to the Gerês Xurés Transfrontier Reserve, close to the border of Ameixoeira, Castro Laboreiro and Pena de Anamán, is a unique opportunity to explore breathtaking landscapes. In the visitor centre, the Basketry Museum highlights the local geomorphology. The Church of Santa María la Real is an architectural jewel. For hiking, there are routes such as Guxinde Castelo, Rio Agro, Gran Ruta Transfronteriza, Ruta Fluvial do Leboreiro and Pica da Illa. In addition, it is possible to see Pyrenean goats and wild garranos horses.
